Tragedy in Kherson: Russian Drone Strike Hits Passenger Bus, Killing 4

KHERSON, Ukraine — A devastating Russian drone attack targeted a public transit bus in Ukraine's southern city of Kherson on Wednesday morning, August 19, 2026, leaving four civilians dead and five others injured.

The strike occurred around 8:50 AM local time in the city's Korabelnyi district. According to regional officials, an explosive-laden drone targeted a public minibus carrying morning commuters down a city street. The explosion shattered the vehicle's windows, tore through its roof, and sprayed shrapnel across the passenger cabin. Four elderly passengers—a 69-year-old man and three women aged 63, 71, and 89—died at the scene from blast injuries.

Military analysts note that the frequent use of low-cost, FPV (first-person view) loitering munitions against civilian transportation in Kherson has turned daily commutes into high-risk endeavors for residents remaining near the Dnipro River.
