KHARKIV OBLAST, UKRAINE — A peaceful Sunday evening was shattered when a Russian missile strike slammed into a densely populated residential sector in the suburban village of Pisochyn, just outside Kharkiv. The sudden attack ignited a major fire, destroyed nearby storefronts, and inflicted severe casualties among local civilians.
The strike occurred around 7:25 PM local time, targeting an area situated near high-rise residential buildings and a busy local grocery store. The explosive blast tore through commercial structures, setting off a fire that spanned over 300 square meters and engulfed multiple parked vehicles before emergency services brought it under control.
Emergency responders and search-and-rescue teams rushed to the site to extract victims from damaged buildings and clear burning debris.
Regional officials confirmed that three people lost their lives in the blast: a 16-year-old boy, a 19-year-old woman, and a 51-year-old woman. At least 25 others sustained varying degrees of injury, including a 13-year-old girl and an 8-year-old girl who suffered severe blast trauma.
First responders provided immediate field triage, transporting hospitalized victims to nearby medical facilities in Kharkiv for emergency surgery and treatment.

Law enforcement officers and forensic experts from the National Police of Ukraine remain on site to document the destruction and collect missile shrapnel. The Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office has officially opened a pre-trial investigation into violations of the laws and customs of war under Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
In the wake of the strike, local authorities and volunteer organizations have mobilized humanitarian relief efforts across the community to assist families whose homes and businesses were damaged or destroyed. Municipal crews are working alongside residents to clear shattered glass and structural wreckage, while temporary housing and emergency financial aid are being provided to displaced families. Local leaders emphasized that despite the repeated strikes targeting suburban communities around Kharkiv, regional resilience and mutual aid efforts remain strong as recovery operations continue.
