JAMSHEDPUR, JHARKHAND — A devastating road accident in the early hours of Thursday morning, September 24, 2026 claimed four lives, including Trisha Singh, the daughter of Jharkhand Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Dipika Pandey Singh.
The horrific crash occurred around 3:00 AM along Marine Drive Road, near Domuhani under the jurisdiction of the Sonari police station. The victims were traveling in a white car heading through Jamshedpur when their vehicle slammed at high speed into the rear of a heavy commercial truck parked along the roadside divider.
Police preliminary findings revealed that the truck had broken down the previous night and remained stranded without adequate hazard reflectors or proper warning markers on the road. The violent impact completely crushed the passenger cabin, trapping all four occupants inside the mangled wreckage.
Local residents and police personnel rushed to the crash site shortly after hearing the deafening collision. Emergency teams were forced to use gas cutters to rip open the twisted metal frame to extract the victims.
All four occupants were transported to Mahatma Gandhi Memorial (MGM) Medical College and Hospital, where attending doctors declared them dead on arrival.
The tragic incident sent shockwaves across Jharkhand’s political community. Chief Minister Hemant Soren expressed profound grief in a heartfelt statement, describing the loss of a child as an unbearable pain for any parent.
"The extremely distressing and heart-wrenching news of the demise of fellow Minister and sister Ms. Dipika Pandey Singh ji's daughter and other individuals in the road accident has left my heart profoundly grieved," CM Soren stated. "In this extremely difficult time, my deepest condolences are with sister Dipika ji and the bereaved families."
Health Minister Irfan Ansari, Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar, and Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi also joined leaders across party lines in extending condolences to the grieving families. Local police have impounded the stranded truck and initiated a full investigation into the safety violations that contributed to the fatal crash.
