CHAMBA, India — A horrific road accident claimed at least seven lives and left 11 others severely injured on Saturday, August 8, 2026 after a passenger bus veered off a mountain road and plunged into a deep gorge in Himachal Pradesh's Chamba district.
The devastating crash, which occurred along a notoriously winding stretch of highway, has sent shockwaves through the region and triggered a large-scale rescue operation in challenging terrain.
According to preliminary reports from local authorities, the bus was carrying over a dozen passengers when the driver reportedly lost control near a steep bend.
