GAZA CITY: A sequence of Israeli airstrikes and gunfire across the Gaza Strip has left at least nine Palestinians dead, including two young children. The renewed spike in violence has punctured the relative calm of a U.S.-mediated ceasefire agreement, drawing heavy condemnation from international humanitarian organizations.

The operations spanned multiple sectors of the besieged enclave, striking both densely populated neighborhoods in the north and makeshift camps for displaced families in the south.

According to Palestinian health officials and local emergency medics, the deadliest individual incident occurred in the al-Mawasi area of Khan Younis. An Israeli air raid targeted a tent camp sheltering families who had previously fled their homes to seek safety. The blast tore through the makeshift structures, killing at least four people—including a 10-year-old child.

Simultaneously, military operations intensified in the northern half of the strip across multiple sectors. In the Gaza City School Sector, an airstrike struck near the Hassan Salamah School in western Gaza City, killing one person and scattering debris across a zone heavily frequented by civilians.

Meanwhile, in the Zeitoun Neighborhood, a six-year-old boy was shot and killed by gunfire from Israeli forces operating in southeastern Gaza City. Additionally, medics confirmed a separate precision strike in West Gaza that destroyed a civilian vehicle traveling westward out of the city, killing one individual and wounding several bystanders.

The Israeli military released a statement confirming it had conducted operations targeting active militants in Gaza City, though officials stated they were unaware of civilian casualties resulting from the localized strikes.

The persistent updates to the death toll underscore the critical frailty of the broader peace accords. While a diplomatic ceasefire formally remains in place, both sides have repeatedly accused the other of severe violations. International monitors report that more than 1,070 Palestinians and four Israeli soldiers have been killed since the agreement originally took effect.

In response to the latest child casualties, advocacy groups like Save the Children have renewed urgent appeals to the international community, warning that children continue to bear the most brutal brunt of the recurring violence despite international legal protections designed to keep them off-limits in active conflict zones.
