Tragedy at Sea: At Least 6 Dead After Ferry Carrying 270 Capsizes Off Northern Cyprus

At least six people have been confirmed dead after a commercial passenger ferry carrying nearly 270 people capsized on Sunday, August 30, 2026, off the coast of Northern Cyprus. The vessel was en route from the port of Kyrenia (Girne) to the Turkish port of Taşucu in Mersin province when it unexpectedly took on water and overturned in open water.
