RANGIORA, CANTERBURY — A community is in mourning after a swimmer passed away in the hospital following a significant medical event at a local public pool.
The incident unfolded on Tuesday afternoon at the Dudley Park Aquatic Centre, located on Church Street, prompting a swift emergency response from lifeguards and paramedics.
According to emergency services and local officials, the swimmer got into difficulty in the facility's main pool at approximately 12:40 PM on Tuesday, June 9, 2026.
