Central Tokyo’s record-breaking run of rainy days ended October 3 after 37 consecutive days, Japan’s weather agency said. The streak surpassed the previous record of 33 days, set in late June 2019. Typhoons and a prolonged autumn rain front contributed to the unusual spell, which brought persistent showers and limited sunshine across eastern Japan. Officials said the region recorded its highest September rainfall and lowest sunlight levels since records began in 1946, underscoring the season’s exceptional weather patterns and disruption.
