Tokenized stocks are attracting growing attention as blockchain technology creates new ways to represent and trade financial assets. According to figures shared by Token Terminal, tokenized stock markets recorded approximately $13.3 billion in spot decentralized exchange trading volume over the preceding 30 days, with activity distributed across 18 tokenized stock issuers. The reported figures highlight the expanding activity surrounding blockchain-based representations of traditional financial assets. Rather than relying exclusively on conventional brokerage systems, tokenized markets can enable eligible users to access certain asset-linked products through blockchain infrastructure and digital trading platforms. According to the Token Terminal data displayed in the report, Binance bStocks represented approximately 29.3% of the measured trading volume. Robinhood followed with 25.9%, while Coinbase accounted for 16.9% and xStocks represented 13.7%. Backpack contributed a further 8.9%, with smaller issuers accounting for the remaining activity. These figures illustrate how trading activity is distributed among several platforms rather than concentrated entirely within one provider. The four largest named participants collectively represented approximately 85.8% of the reported volume, indicating that a relatively small group of issuers accounted for most of the activity measured in the dataset. The development matters because tokenization seeks to connect traditional financial markets with blockchain-based infrastructure. Depending on the product and its legal structure, tokenized securities or stock-linked tokens may provide exposure to conventional assets while using digital networks for transfers, transaction processing and settlement. However, an important distinction exists between trading volume and the total value of tokenized assets. The $13.3 billion figure represents reported trading activity over a 30-day period; it does not mean that $13.3 billion in new capital entered the market or that the underlying tokenized stock supply is worth that amount. High trading volume can reflect repeated transactions involving the same assets. It should therefore be assessed alongside market capitalization, liquidity, the number of active users and the value of assets actually held by investors. Tokenization also does not automatically provide every holder with the same rights as a shareholder who owns stock through a conventional brokerage. Depending on the issuer and jurisdiction, a token might represent direct ownership, a contractual claim, a derivative exposure or another financial arrangement. Investors need to examine the underlying legal documentation rather than relying on the label attached to a token. Regulation remains another important consideration. Financial authorities must address investor protection, disclosure requirements, custody arrangements, market manipulation and the responsibilities of trading platforms. The rules applicable to a tokenized asset can differ significantly according to its structure and the jurisdiction in which it is offered. Nevertheless, the reported trading activity provides evidence that tokenized stock products are being used in active markets. Token Terminal has also published research examining the growth of tokenized stocks and their on-chain trading activity, although individual datasets can differ according to their coverage and measurement periods. For blockchain networks, the broader opportunity extends beyond issuing digital tokens. Networks and applications may compete on transaction costs, liquidity, interoperability, security and the ability to connect tokenized assets with other financial services. The long-term significance of tokenized stocks will depend on whether they can provide reliable access to financial markets while meeting the legal and operational standards expected by investors and institutions. The reported $13.3 billion in monthly trading volume offers a notable snapshot of activity, but it is not, by itself, proof that tokenization has replaced traditional stock exchanges.
