SINGAPORE — Three people, including a Traffic Police outrider, were conveyed to the hospital following a multi-vehicle collision along the Pan Island Expressway (PIE) during the morning rush hour on Wednesday, November 4.

The chain-collision occurred around 7:10 AM along the PIE towards Tuas, just before the Eng Neo Avenue exit. The accident involved two motorcycles—one of which was a police patrol bike—and two cars. Eyewitness accounts and dash cam footage circulating on social media provide a detailed account of the incident.

In the footage, the 26-year-old Traffic Police outrider is seen traveling along the rightmost lane. Just before the impact, the officer appears to turn his head toward an adjacent black car on the second rightmost lane, allegedly checking if the driver was using a mobile phone while behind the wheel. This momentary distraction prevented the officer from reacting in time when the silver car directly ahead slowed down, leading to a high-speed rear-end collision.

The violent impact flung the officer off his motorcycle, which then tumbled across the lanes, striking the side of the adjacent black car. The collision caused a trailing motorcycle to crash while attempting to take evasive action. Debris from the destroyed motorcycle, including parts of the fairing and headlight housing, struck passing vehicles, forcing other motorists to swerve to avoid the wreckage.

The Singapore Civil Defense Force (SCDF) and the Singapore Police Force confirmed that three individuals were injured in the crash: the 26-year-old Traffic Police officer, a 28-year-old female motorcyclist, and a 20-year-old car driver. All three were conscious when conveyed by paramedics to National University Hospital and Ng Teng Fong General Hospital for treatment.

The crash caused significant tailbacks along the expressway during peak commuting hours, as emergency crews worked to clear the vehicle wreckage and debris from the fast lanes. The incident highlights the dangers of distracted driving and the importance of maintaining a safe distance from other vehicles, especially during heavy traffic conditions.

Police investigations into the exact cause of the collision remain ongoing. Authorities have urged all road users to exercise caution and adhere to traffic regulations to prevent similar incidents in the future.
