CJP activists and others say thousands of people traveling to New Delhi were detained before a planned October 10 demonstration. The protest, called Jantar Mantar 2.0, demands the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision of voter lists. Some participants said police stopped them on trains or contacted students and lodging managers to discourage attendance. Delhi police said the gathering was unauthorized and cited public-order concerns. The numbers of detainees remain disputed, however.
