Thirteen-Year-Old Afghan Boy Found Alive After Hiding in Aircraft Wheel Well

At just 13 years old, a boy from Kunduz, Afghanistan, undertook a perilous journey that could easily have cost him his life. According to reports from local media in Kabul and Delhi, the teenager slipped into the airport before dawn and crawled into the cramped compartment where the landing gear of a commercial plane is housed. His intention was to reach Iran, but the flight he boarded was bound for Delhi.

When the aircraft landed, airport staff in India were stunned to find the boy alive inside the wheel well. Stowaways in such conditions rarely survive, as the high altitude brings freezing temperatures and dangerously thin air. In this case, the boy endured the hours-long flight before being discovered. Authorities confirmed that he was questioned upon arrival and later flown back to Kabul by the evening.

The story highlights both the desperation of youth in conflict-torn regions and the astonishing risks some are willing to take in search of a different life. Aviation safety experts note that incidents like this are rare but underline the urgent need for stricter airport security, especially in areas where instability pushes children and teenagers toward such desperate acts.
