Thick Smoke Splits the Sky of Surabaya's Industrial Sector

The thick smoke rising high in the industrial area often signals that something unusual is happening. In Surabaya, a bustling port city filled with trade and manufacturing activities, a fire at a chemical warehouse suddenly transformed the rhythm of the industrial area into one of heightened alertness.

The fire was reported to have occurred on Thursday afternoon at a chemical storage warehouse in Surabaya, East Java. The flames quickly grew larger, producing thick smoke visible from various corners of the city.

Firefighters were promptly dispatched to the scene to control the fire and prevent its spread to other buildings in the warehouse area. The firefighting process was carried out with caution due to the presence of chemical materials that could increase the risk of fire.

Residents in the vicinity were asked to stay away from the area for safety reasons. Police and security personnel also secured access routes to the industrial area to ensure the handling process went smoothly.

Several warehouse workers were reported to have been evacuated early before the fire escalated. As of now, officials are still gathering information regarding the condition of the victims and the impact of the fire on other storage facilities.

Fires in chemical storage facilities always require special handling due to the risks of hazardous smoke and potential additional explosions. Therefore, cooling and monitoring of the area are conducted in layers by the personnel.

Some residents reported seeing black smoke billowing high since the beginning of the incident and hearing small explosions from within the warehouse area. The situation gradually began to stabilize after additional firefighting units arrived at the scene.

Authorities stated that an investigation into the cause of the fire is still ongoing. Examination of the warehouse's security systems and chemical storage will be the main focus of the investigation.
