The study also serves as a reminder of how easily human perception fills gaps with metaphor. Spider-like forms and ominous labels reflect our instinct to narrate the unknown. Science, moving more slowly, replaces those stories with process and probability.

As imaging improves and future missions draw closer, Jupiter’s moons will likely surrender more such illusions. Each revelation strips away a layer of mystery, not by diminishing wonder, but by grounding it.

What remains is a landscape still alien, still severe, and still capable of producing forms that unsettle the eye. The “demon,” once feared in silhouette, now stands as a quiet testament to geology under extreme conditions.
