The Feast of Tabernacles: Why This Ancient Festival Matters More Than Ever in 2026

The Feast of Tabernacles, described in Leviticus 23:33-43, begins this Saturday, September 26. It is one of three solemn feasts God commanded Israel to observe — and its prophetic relevance to our times is striking.
The Harvest Must Come First
In Deuteronomy 16:13-14, God commands: "When you have gathered in your threshing floor and your winepress, you shall keep the Feast of Tabernacles for seven days. You shall rejoice in your feast."
The message is clear: the feast comes after the harvest work is complete. You gather the grain, you press the grapes, and then you celebrate.
Jesus echoed this exact pattern in Matthew 13:39-41, explaining His parable of the wheat and tares: "The harvest is the end of the age. The harvesters are the angels. As the weeds are pulled up and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of the age. The Son of Man will send his angels, and they will weed out of his kingdom everything that causes sin."
Two harvests. Two types of gathering. First the wheat — the children of the kingdom. Then the tares — everything that causes offense. Then the feast.
A King With an Unfinished Assignment
In Acts 1:6-7, after His resurrection, the disciples asked Jesus: "Lord, will you at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?" His response: "It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority."
The Father has set specific times. Jesus has an unfinished assignment — He was proclaimed King at His birth (Luke 1:32-33: "He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give Him the throne of David His father. He will reign over the house of Jacob forever"), but He has not yet taken possession of His kingdom.
Revelation 14:14-17 shows the moment arrives: "I looked, and there before me was a white cloud, and seated on the cloud was one like a son of man... Another angel came out of the temple and called in a loud voice to him who was sitting on the cloud, 'Take your sickle and reap, because the time to reap has come, for the harvest of the earth is ripe.'"
The harvest of the earth is ripe. The wheat and the grapes — two harvests, two sickles. The feast follows the harvest.
Why This Matters Now
We are living in the temporary. The Feast of Tabernacles is God's annual reminder that everything we see — the financial systems, the political structures, the digital infrastructure being built around us — is temporary. A tent, not a permanent house.
The global financial system is showing cracks that cannot be repaired. Central bank digital currencies are being rolled out worldwide. The infrastructure for controlling buy and sell is being built in real time. And through it all, God's people are being gathered, refined, and prepared.
The work in the field is nearly finished. The harvest is ripening. And when the Father gives the command, the King will take what is His.
