Textile Mill Boiler Blast In Pakistan Kills Four Workers, Eight Others Rushed To Hospital

Faisalabad, Pakistan— Four workers died and eight others were injured when a boiler exploded inside a textile mill on Thursday, tearing through the production floor and collapsing part of the building.

The blast hit at around 9:15 a.m. inside a mill in the Faisalabad industrial estate. Workers were running the morning shift. The boiler, used to power dyeing units, ruptured without warning. The pressure wave knocked people off their feet.

Rescue 1122 crews arrived within 20 minutes. They found metal debris spread across 50 meters. Steam filled the hall. Four men were dead at the scene. The injured were carried out with burns and broken bones.

"The boiler was old. We complained many times," one surviving worker told local reporters outside the district hospital. He had bandages on his arms. He said maintenance logs were not kept.

District administration sealed the premises. Police filed a case against the mill management for negligence. Labour department officials said they will check whether safety certificates were valid. That check is standard after such blasts.

Faisalabad is Pakistan's textile hub. Thousands of small and large units run boilers under pressure. Inspections are often skipped. Workers said the mill employed over 120 people on two shifts.

Doctors at Allied Hospital said two of the eight injured were in critical condition. The rest had 30 to 40 percent burns. Families gathered outside the emergency ward. They waited for names.

Officials said a technical team will examine the boiler remnants to determine if low water levels, faulty valves, or overpressure caused the rupture. Results will take a week.

The mill owner has not made a public statement. Workers said wages for the month have not been paid.
