Terror in Ziarat: At Least Nine Policemen Martyred in Brutal Balochistan Outpost Attack

ZIARAT, BALOCHISTAN — A remote security outpost in southwestern Pakistan became the site of a fierce, night-long battle after dozens of heavily armed militants launched a coordinated assault, leaving at least nine police personnel martyred.

The attack took place in the Mangi Phase-III area of the Ziarat district, a region known as a popular tourist destination in Balochistan.

According to Deputy Commissioner Ziarat, Abdul Quddus Achakzai, the violent confrontation began late Monday night, July 6, 2026 when militants ambushed the police checkpoint. The initial assault triggered an intense gun battle between law enforcement personnel and the attackers that raged into the early hours of Tuesday morning.

"The personnel fought valiantly under heavy fire," a provincial security official noted. "The attackers used the cover of darkness and the remote terrain to surround the post."

During the chaotic siege, the assailants also abducted eight police officers from the facility. However, following a swift tactical response by reinforcement security forces, all eight abducted personnel were successfully recovered.

The bodies of the nine martyred personnel were recovered from the scene after the gunfire ceased and were subsequently shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital in Ziarat. Several other officers sustained injuries during the prolonged firefight.

Following the withdrawal of the militants, security forces cordoned off the entire sector and launched a massive, high-intensity sweeps operation across the rugged terrain of Ziarat to track down the fleeing attackers.

While no group immediately claimed responsibility for the deadly ambush, suspicion heavily centers on the outlawed separatist group, the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), which has a long history of carrying out targeted strikes against security forces and government infrastructure in the area.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi strongly condemned the attack, paying rich tribute to the fallen officers who laid down their lives to protect the peace. Balochistan remains a highly volatile region, frequently targeted by insurgents seeking to disrupt local stability and major economic projects.
