Tens of thousands of people took to the streets in Germany to protest against the far-right Alternative for Germany party. In Berlin, police estimated that approximately 160,000 demonstrators gathered outside the Bundestag before marching toward the CDU headquarters. The protests followed votes in which mainstream conservatives cooperated with AfD lawmakers on immigration measures, breaking a long-standing political taboo. Demonstrators demanded that democratic parties reject cooperation with the far right ahead of Germany’s upcoming federal election.
