He reiterated Taiwan's commitment to collaborating with global partners to provide humanitarian aid to Ukraine and enforce strict export controls against Russia.
Lai also urged Zelensky to share specific information about potential violations by Taiwanese companies, reinforcing Taiwan's readiness to cooperate in combatting sanctions-busting activities. Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Taiwan has implemented extensive sanction measures, expanding its export restriction list to include over 3,300 Russian entities.
As relations between Taiwan and Ukraine evolve, with neither holding formal diplomatic ties, Taiwan remains committed to supporting Ukraine amidst the ongoing conflict, drawing parallels between the Russian aggression in Ukraine and China’s ongoing threats against Taiwan.
