Taiwan Indicts Five Men Over Alleged Plot to Run Over Comedian for Xi Jinping Jokes

Five Taiwanese men have been indicted over an alleged plot to injure comedian Huang Yi-hao, who has mocked Chinese President Xi Jinping and the Communist Party in his performances. Prosecutors say a person in mainland China, identified as “K,” offered NT$450,000 to prevent Huang from performing. The suspects allegedly tracked him, then staged a collision with a car in September. Huang suffered a pelvic contusion but was not seriously hurt. Prosecutors describe the case as suspected cross-border repression; the allegations have yet to be tested in court
