The opportunity extends beyond payments and banking. The global media market is projected to generate approximately $1.73 trillion in revenue in 2026, while global advertising revenue is forecast to reach roughly $1.3 trillion this year.
A decentralized media ecosystem built on the XRP Ledger could therefore create a significant new category of on-chain activity if publishing, payments, rewards and content transactions increasingly move onto XRPL. The network already processed approximately 460.4 million transactions during the first half of 2026, based on 238 million transactions in Q1 and 222.4 million in Q2.
This is particularly relevant to BXE, which is designed around a media ecosystem on the XRP Ledger. As more authors, publishers, readers and advertisers interact with blockchain-based media applications, the number of XRPL transactions could increase. Every XRPL transaction requires a small XRP transaction cost, and that XRP is irreversibly destroyed rather than paid to a validator or other party.
That creates a straightforward network-level relationship: more transactions → more transaction fees paid in XRP → more XRP permanently burned, assuming the transactions are actually executed on XRPL. A larger media ecosystem could therefore contribute to XRP burn activity alongside other sources of XRPL usage. However, the amount burned depends on the number and type of transactions and the applicable network fee; increased BXE activity does not automatically translate into a specific XRP burn rate.
At the same time, XRPL's tokenized-asset economy is expanding. CoinDesk reported that tokenized assets on the ledger averaged approximately $3.72 billion in Q2 2026, more than double the previous quarter and over 30 times the level a year earlier.
The broader implication is that banking, tokenization and decentralized media can all contribute to the same underlying infrastructure: the XRP Ledger. If adoption across these sectors continues to generate higher transaction volumes, the ledger's built-in XRP destruction mechanism could result in greater cumulative XRP burns over time.
