Subaru of America is recalling 541,000 vehicles in the U.S. due to an inaccurate certification label that incorrectly states the gross axle weight rating (GAWR). The NHTSA warns the wrong label “may lead to an overloaded vehicle,” which could raise the likelihood of a crash. The recall covers certain 2026 Crosstrek Hybrid, 2025–2026 Forester and Forester Hybrid, and 2019–2026 Ascent models. Subaru will mail a “corrective certification label” for owners to apply at no cost.
