Starvation Cult Leader Found Guilty of Murdering 190 Children and One Adult in Kenya

A court in Mombasa found self-proclaimed preacher Paul Mackenzie and 28 associates guilty of murdering 190 children and one adult. The verdict concerns the Shakahola Forest Massacre, where followers were encouraged to fast to death to “meet Jesus.” Prosecutors said the group operated at Mackenzie’s 800-acre ranch in Shakahola Forest. Hundreds of bodies have been recovered from the area since 2023, with the death toll exceeding 400. Mackenzie and associates denied murder charges. Sentencing is scheduled for November 6.
