Axel Rudakubana, the Southport killer, has been charged with four offences while in custody. Police say the alleged incidents took place at HMP Belmarsh over six months from May to October 2025 and include assault on an emergency worker, attempted grievous bodily harm, and unauthorised possession of an offensive weapon in prison. A further assault on an emergency worker is also included. Rudakubana, 19, is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court remotely on 11 September.
