South Korea’s HD Hyundai and U.S. defense company Anduril Industries demonstrated autonomous operations aboard an unmanned surface vessel off Long Beach, California. The roughly three-and-a-half-hour trial tested autonomous navigation, mission changes, coordinated formation operations and responses to equipment failures. The 368-ton test vessel had previously been operated by the U.S. Navy. It used HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering’s VAone autonomy solution integrated with Anduril’s Lattice mission software. The firms say the demonstration advances their naval plans in the U.S.
