Edmonton businessman Mohammad Reza Ghafouri Fard, who operates as Sal Ghafouri, received more than $2 million in federal and provincial contracts, according to public records. His companies won agreements involving the RCMP and Department of National Defence while Canadian officials investigated allegations that he had worked on Iranian military technology and helped procure components despite sanctions. A recently declassified CSIS report linked him to missile and electronic-warfare projects. Ghafouri disputes the allegations and says he intends to pursue legal remedies.
