SOKOTO, NIGERIA — A devastating early morning fire outbreak on Saturday, June 27, 2026 completely destroyed a vital section of the Hamidu Ahmed Medical Library, located within the Teaching Hospital Complex of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUS).
The inferno caused extensive structural and infrastructural damage, expanding rapidly to consume adjacent administrative workspaces and the complex's sustainable power network.
According to initial emergency updates from the university campus, the fire broke out during the early hours of Saturday when the facility was largely unoccupied. Before first responders and fire management units could completely contain the situation, the fast-moving flames ripped through the heart of the medical library.
