Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico Joins Vučić’s Electoral Campaign

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico left an EU summit in Brussels Friday to back Aleksandar Vučić ahead of Serbia’s October 25 parliamentary election. He appeared at a rally for the Serbian Progressive Party’s “Aleksandar Vučić – United Serbia” list. Fico voiced support for Serbia’s territorial integrity and repeated Slovakia’s opposition to Kosovo’s independence. Vučić thanked him publicly; protesters and student groups urged residents to ignore the rally amid tensions. He missed some EU talks on migration and energy security that day.
