Six migrants—four men, one woman and an infant—died when their speedboat collided with a Greek coast guard vessel near Agrilia, Lesbos, and overturned. Eight people survived and were taken to hospital. Greece’s shipping minister said preliminary evidence indicated the boat struck the patrol vessel’s left side with its bow; the circumstances remain under investigation. Authorities arrested a 37-year-old Turkish survivor, identifying him as the suspected smuggler and boat operator. Officials blamed traffickers for the deaths and pledged a zero-tolerance response.
