Singapore to Send Haze Prevention Notices to 7 Companies in Indonesia Linked to Fires

Singapore’s National Environment Agency will issue preventive measure notices to seven companies in Indonesia linked to fires causing the current haze, Minister Grace Fu said Friday. The notices under the Transboundary Haze Pollution Act require firms to deploy firefighting crews, stop or avoid burning, and submit plans to extinguish fires and prevent recurrence. Investigators identified the firms using satellite imagery and weather data, tracing fires on their land to events on October 8 and 9. More notices may follow if warranted.
