Shell and Philips Hit by Russian Ransomware Attack, Claims Data Theft

Shell and Philips say they are investigating cyber incidents after a Russia-linked hacking group, Cl0p, claimed it stole data from nearly 50 companies worldwide. The group’s statement alleges about 89GB of files from Shell and roughly 13.5GB from Philips, including engineering materials such as facility blueprints, diagrams, and inspection-related documents. Both companies acknowledge attempts to access systems but say they have contained the incidents; neither has confirmed that data was actually exfiltrated. Some reporting notes Cl0p often uses “double extortion” data-theft tactics.
