Toronto, Canada—A passenger remains in critical condition following a severe two-vehicle crash on The Queensway in Etobicoke. The collision happened around 6:30 p.m. Sunday when a ride-share vehicle collided with a mid-sized sedan at a major intersection. Emergency services had to use hydraulic tools to extricate the passenger from the backseat of the vehicle.

The victim was treated by paramedics on the scene before being taken to a local trauma hospital. Their injuries were reported as life-threatening upon arrival. The driver of the ride-share car was also treated for minor lacerations but did not require hospitalization. The driver of the second vehicle remained on the scene to speak with investigating officers.

The Queensway was cordoned off for several blocks as the traffic unit investigated the crash. Investigators are checking digital footage from nearby storefronts to determine the cause of the impact. It remains unclear if one of the drivers disregarded a red light at the time of the collision. The investigation is expected to take several days to complete.
