Saudi Arabia Executes 5 Citizens Convicted of Terrorism in Eastern Province

RIYADH, SAUDI ARABIA — The Ministry of Interior announced on Saturday that five Saudi citizens were executed in the Eastern Province after being convicted of committing acts of terrorism against the kingdom and its security forces.

According to an official statement released by the ministry, the five individuals were identified as Mohamed bin Munir bin Mohamed al Zahir, Alí bin Abdurab al Husein al Sheij, Hasán bin Zaki bin Mohamed al Faraj, Reda bin Mohamed bin Alí al Abu Abdulá, and Alí bin Hasán bin Ahmed al Rabh.

The convicted individuals were accused of joining an external terrorist organization, opening fire on security forces, security facilities, and patrol vehicles using weapons and explosives. The ministry further noted that the group was found guilty of possessing illegal arms and live ammunition, as well as providing financial and logistical support for carrying out terrorist operations inside the country.

Following their arrest, the suspects were investigated and referred to a specialized competent court, which sentenced them to death. The capital rulings were subsequently reviewed and upheld by the Supreme Court in accordance with Islamic law, after which a Royal Order was issued to execute the sentences in the Eastern Province.

The Ministry of Interior reaffirmed the Saudi government’s stance on preserving national stability, upholding justice, and enforcing counter-terrorism measures against anyone who threatens public safety. Authorities reiterated a strict warning that individuals seeking to harm the state or disrupt security will face the full weight of legal punishment.

Human rights organizations and international observers continue to monitor judicial proceedings and capital punishment execution rates in the kingdom, calling for greater judicial transparency and due process assurances in terror-related cases.
