S. Korea Navy Pushes for 30,000-Ton Drone Carrier by Early 2040s

South Korea’s Navy plans to develop a carrier operating crewed aircraft and unmanned systems by the early 2040s, the service said at an audit. The ship is expected to displace more than 30,000 tons, measure 270 meters long and 70 meters wide, and carry over 20 unmanned systems alongside over 20 crewed aircraft and landing craft. The Navy submitted a revised requirement last October, and the proposal remains under review by the Joint Chiefs of Staff. A decision is expected year’s end.
