KOMYSHUVAKHA, UKRAINE — A tragic morning turned into chaos in Ukraine’s southeastern Zaporizhzhia region as Russian forces executed a devastating aerial attack on a school serving as a humanitarian aid distribution center. The assault, which occurred between 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m., resulted in the deaths of at least 26 individuals and left many others injured or trapped under debris.
The attack targeted a local school where residents from surrounding areas had gathered to receive essential food supplies and fresh bread. Humanitarian workers were actively distributing aid when the first strike hit the school grounds, causing immediate panic and destruction.
As survivors fled the scene, Russian aircraft conducted a secondary strike, dropping at least nine heavy guided bombs, specifically FAB-3000 munitions, on the shelter where civilians and rescue teams had sought refuge. This tactic, known as a double-tap strike, is particularly devastating as it targets those responding to the initial attack.
Ukraine's Foreign Ministry condemned the assault, asserting that Russia was aware of the civilian presence at the aid distribution point.
