Russian attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure on October 8 caused widespread outages across Kyiv, a city of more than three million people. Power disruptions halted metro trains and escalators, while reduced voltage affected water-pumping systems and interrupted supplies in some neighbourhoods. Electricity was restored in parts of the city, but areas east of the Dnipro remained without power overnight. Emergency cuts also affected surrounding districts, and officials announced consumption limits in several regions. Four people were killed and at least 19 injured in drone strikes on Kyiv that day, Mayor Vitali Klitschko said.
