Russia Weaponized Claude AI to Spy on Ukraine and Europe

Anthropic says a Russian-linked hacking group used Claude AI across a cyberespionage campaign targeting more than 20 organizations in Ukraine and Europe. The operation focused on government officials, military and diplomatic personnel, defense companies, and drone manufacturers. Claude helped attackers conduct reconnaissance, build phishing infrastructure, develop malware, evade security tools, steal credentials, and process hundreds of gigabytes of stolen data. Anthropic attributed the activity to Midnight Blizzard, a group widely linked to Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service in recent public reports
