Russia Suffered More Than 50,000 Casualties in September, NATO Official Says

Russian forces suffered more than 50,000 casualties in Ukraine during September, including as many as 28,000 personnel killed, according to an assessment by a senior NATO military official reported by Bloomberg. The official estimated Ukrainian forces suffered about 5,000 casualties that month. The figures have not been independently verified. Russia’s losses include personnel killed and wounded; they should not be read as deaths alone. Ukraine’s General Staff separately estimated 46,230 Russian personnel losses in September, without specifying how many were killed or wounded.
