An investigation by Vot Tak found that students at least 40 Russian institutions are involved in producing drones, ammunition, or related components. The work ranges from engineering and prototype development to assembly and manufacturing support. At Pacific National University, a bureau develops strike drones and incorporates feedback from Russian forces. Other programs connect students with defense-industry employers through internships and scholarships. The findings raise concerns about universities’ role in Russia’s military-industrial effort and students’ exposure to defense production.
