Russia’s largest oil refinery, which provides major fuel supplies to Moscow Oblast, has halted processing after a Ukrainian drone attack, according to sources cited by Reuters.
The strike reportedly caused a fire and damaged key processing infrastructure at the refinery located in the south-eastern Moscow area. Sources said the main processing unit—responsible for the majority of the plant’s total capacity—was hit, leading to a full suspension of operations. Reuters reported that a second processing unit is expected to resume work soon, depending on the extent of the damage.
The incident comes amid a broader pattern of Ukrainian deep-strike attacks targeting Russian energy infrastructure, with prior drone strikes having triggered temporary shutdowns and disruptions across multiple refineries and fuel supply chains.
