Russia’s Central Bank Proposes Framework for Publicly Trading Major Cryptocurrencies

Russia’s central bank has proposed a regulated framework that would allow investors to trade Bitcoin, Ether and Tether (USDT) on official Russian exchanges. The plan is set to take effect next month and expands on a law signed by President Vladimir Putin that legalizes cryptocurrency trading in Russia. Starting Sept. 1, retail and professional investors would need to pass a risk-awareness test before trading. Retail purchases would be capped at 300,000 rubles per year through each intermediary, and crypto could not be used for domestic payments.
