An investigation by Anthropic found that a Kremlin-linked group used Claude to develop software for autonomous lethal drones, hacking operations, and influence campaigns. The system reportedly helped drones identify targets and issue detonation commands without a human in the loop, although the model had not been deployed in combat. Russian-linked actors also used AI to create malware, steal data, evade detection, and operate fake social media profiles and news sites designed to spread narratives favorable to Moscow to foreign audiences
