Romania’s first K9 Thunder self-propelled howitzer has left a production line in South Korea, marking progress in the country’s effort to modernize its artillery forces. The system is designed to provide mobile, long-range fire support and improve interoperability with NATO allies. The acquisition is part of a broader defense upgrade aimed at strengthening Romania’s eastern flank and replacing older equipment. Delivery and training will determine how quickly the new artillery capability becomes operational with Romanian forces in the field soon.
