Roman Revelation: Biggest Ancient Monumental Wall Mosaic Unveiled After 2,000 Years

Rome has opened the restored Great Mosaic and “Painted City” fresco to visitors at the Baths of Trajan near the Colosseum. Dating from the first century A.D., the artworks were discovered beneath the complex during excavations in the 1990s. The Great Mosaic rises more than 15 metres and depicts a detailed harbor city across several levels, while the fresco shows an urban landscape from above. Officials describe the site as a unique artistic and historical treasure of ancient Rome itself.
