The village of Miquelon, in the French archipelago of Saint-Pierre and Miquelon near Newfoundland, faces flooding, coastal erosion, and rising sea levels. Residents selected a relocation site about 1.5 kilometres from the original village, on higher ground at least 10 metres above sea level. The move is expected to unfold over 50 to 70 years, giving the community time to adapt. But relocation means leaving homes, familiar places, and memories behind, and some residents would rather stay near the coast or remain on the island.
