Judicial police in Guinea-Bissau raided offices of researchers linked to a hepatitis B vaccine study and seized vaccine doses. The researchers, praised by US Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr., are conducting a trial supported by a $1.6 million Centers for Disease Control and Prevention grant, with foundation funding bringing support to $3.2 million. The study has drawn criticism because it would assign newborns not to receive the hepatitis B birth dose, despite WHO guidance recommending it to prevent infection.
