Reported Vance Letter to Iran’s Security Chief Comes as Tehran Weighs Hormuz Strategy

Vice President JD Vance reportedly sent a letter to Mohsen Rezaei, head of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, seeking to revive peace talks. The reported outreach comes as Tehran weighs a seven-day plan to end the regional war and reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Iran has said reopening the vital shipping route depends on conditions including a ceasefire, sanctions relief and an end to the U.S. naval blockade. President Donald Trump said Vance raised the idea with him, but denied directing the initiative.
