He said armed men blocked the road, prevented the delegation from leaving, and that when Israeli soldiers arrived he noticed them interacting with the settlers and continuing to block the exit. Khanna added that the group was allowed to move only after the U.S. Embassy and Israeli police were contacted.
The IDF said it received reports of Israeli citizens blocking foreign nationals and media in Khirbet Zanuta, dispatched troops to disperse the civilians, and reopened the blocked road, adding that soldiers in the area did not participate in the blocking.
The article places the clash within broader political tensions involving Israel and Democrats in the U.S., noting heightened criticism since the Gaza war and referencing recent Democratic statements.
