The remains of Czar Samuel, a medieval Bulgarian ruler, are being returned to Sofia after decades of negotiations between Bulgaria and Greece. Discovered in 1965 near Greece’s border, the remains will arrive aboard a military aircraft and receive full state honors, including a fighter-jet escort, a 21-gun salute, and a public procession to Sofia’s Church of St. Sophia.
