PTI Protest Postponement Expected to Double Islamabad Security Costs

The postponement of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s planned September 27 protest has pushed Islamabad’s security costs beyond Rs1 billion, officials say. Police had arranged 1,550 containers, 16,000 Punjab officers, and 2,000 personnel from Sindh to contain the march. Container rentals alone cost Rs46.5 million per day, while meals, accommodation, transport, and equipment add millions more. With the rally delayed by about a week, authorities must either retain the arrangements or release resources and repeat the costly operation later at short notice again
